SWITCH Gym Manager Roberta O’Brien said exercising and having fun in a social setting is a great way to stay young at heart and feel healthy in body and spirit.

She said gentle weekly exercises can also reduce the risk of diseases such as heart attack and stroke, and ensure that older people continue to feel flexible and enjoy a good range of movement.

“Research has shown that even small amounts of exercise can have enormous physical and mental benefits,” she said.

“Exercise provides a fantastic avenue to meet others and make social connections in a fun and friendly environment. And the older we get, social connections and friendships are a really important part of staying happy and healthy in later life.”

There is no need to book for Seniors Week free classes – simply come along and have some fun.
