Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has incredible physical and mental benefits for all ages

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) aims to teach the student to avoid strikes from the opponent, take them to the ground, neutralise and/or submit the opponent by using holds, chokes and/or joint locks.

Currently there is no Jiu Jitsu program on offer in the Lismore region and with the large number of children and growing number of young adults, Jiu Jitsu teaches confidence and safety within oneself and within the community.

The ‘ego at the door’ policy encompasses an understanding of the students' own abilities and limits and how to conduct themselves in the community. Jiu-Jitsu emboldens the student to help others and realise their own potential in many areas of their life.

The Jiu Jitsu program dovetails into all the other programs on offer at GSAC such as strength and conditioning, yoga, swimming, Pilates, and many more. GSAC is a centre for community engagement, fitness and confidence, so and the Jiu Ji program fits perfectly within the ethos of the centre.
