Water Safety Week is a chance to raise awareness about water safety in our community
We’re proud to be part of the National Energy Australia SwimSAFER Week – a Swim Australia initiative held from 21-26 November 2016.
The week is designed to help better educate and ensure children and families are safe around water. The main message to parents is to teach your kids to swim! Vital learn-to-swim skills could save your child’s life... and it's fun!

BE AWARE, BE SECURE, BE CONFIDENT, BE PREPARED
Swim Safer Week is coming to Goonellabah Sports & Aquatic Centre and Lismore Memorial Baths! Come dressed in your favourite superhero costume and learn how to be a superhero in and around water.
Swim Safer Week is a nationwide initiative through Swim Australia. During this time children will learn skills to be safer in and around aquatic environments.
Please note costumes will get wet so bring a spare superhero shirt to wear in your lesson. Goggles will not be needed.
Swim Safer Week is from November 21-26 2016
Swim Australia believes that the education of parents and caregivers is best approached by using various messages and implemented via different means to help prevent drowning. We use education at all levels including posters, activity sheets, social media and other opportunities to teach different water safety messages so families can enjoy a safer aquatic experience. No parent can afford to think "that this won’t happen to me".
Swim Australia's theme for this Swim Safer Week is 'Prevent Drowning and Save Lives'.
Swim Australia designed the SwimSAFER program primarily to assist swim schools to ‘live the water safety message’. Swim schools are uniquely placed to positively influence the swimming and water safety habits of their customers – parents, caregivers and children. SwimSAFER features a ‘layers of protection’ concept that encompasses the common themes in water safety messages used by various authorities.
